End of Life Portraits
This series began as a project intended to ignite and normalize conversation around death, while celebrating those reaching the end of their lives. In 2019 I had a series of conversations with people who were facing the prospect of their mortality. Some of these people were terminally ill, some were elderly, and some were facing death in other ways. I listened to each person’s story and created a portrait based on what I saw and felt. The portraits were then gifted to each person. This project has concluded but I continue to offer commissioned end-of-life portraits. I find it an honour to be witness to people’s lives and stories.
