At Life’s Door
At Life’s Door is a portrait project intended to ignite and normalize dialogue around death, while celebrating those who are reaching the end of their lives. Last winter I had a series of conversations with people who were facing the prospect of their mortality. Some of these people were terminally ill, some were elderly, and some were being faced with death in other ways. I listened to each person’s story and created a portrait of them based on what I saw and felt.
In April I held my exhibition online. All the material can be found in the links
below, including: The portraits and write-ups from our conversations, the livestream video of me walking through each portrait and talking about my process, audio clips from some of the conversations, and a resource folder put together by local doula Chelsea Peddle, which includes resources on grief support, end of life planning, artistic explorations and more.
